Chapter 77 Danger

While Li Shiyu’s sniper rifle was a devastating weapon, its report was too loud.

This was the city center, and hundreds of beasts would converge on their location the moment they heard the gunshot.

They would instantly be killed if they couldn’t escape.

But then Lu Shiyu took out a twenty-centimeter-long cylinder and everyone immediately approved of the plan.

It was a silencer—a nano silencer, to be precise.

It was cutting-edge technology that preserved a gun’s firepower while silencing the noise it generated.

“This is a nano silencer, but it's only a one-time use item.

To think it’d come in handy here.” Lu Shiyu was correct.

Thanks to its unique property, the sound of a gunshot would be reduced to the level of a mosquito’s buzz.

The only downside was that it was extremely expensive.

“I can’t believe the military would give you this.

A nano silencer costs a hundred thousand dollars, and it's even a single-use item!” Li Zimo sighed in admiration, even though it was the lowest grade nano silencer.

Xiang Ning was utterly speechless.

A sniper rifle that cost more than ten million dollars, ammo that cost two hundred thousand dollars per round, and a nano silencer that cost a hundred thousand dollars.

Li Shiyu was truly rich.

“Good, then let’s kill the tier two Night Cat.

This is one of the best opportunities we’ll have!” Li Zimo was excited.

Because the hallway was cramped, the Night Cat wouldn’t have many places to run.

It would be hit by a bullet that was ten times faster than the speed of sound.

Plus, a tier two Night Cat was worth at least twenty thousand dollars!

Xiang Ning silently observed the cat and saw that it entered the twelfth floor. It should be surveying the building.

All five of them slowly and cautiously made their way up the stairs, but when they arrived at the twelfth floor, Xiang Ning felt uneasy.

He tried to find anything dangerous, but failed.

He lifted his scornful shield and signaled his squad to move slowly as they rounded a corner.

At that moment, Lu Shiyu was training her gun on Xiang Ning, while Fang Rou and Liu Ruoxue were each controlling flying knives.

Li Zimo had drawn his weapon and was ready to charge in as well.

Looking at their coordination, everyone understood the threat of a single tier two ferocious beast.

Xiang Ning was also simultaneously controlling two flying knives.

He had a feeling that they’d been detected by the Night Cat.

It was just like a prey felt when it was being hunted by a hungry predator.

As Xiang Ning passed the corner, the air was torn apart as something crashed into his scornful shield.

It was much faster than he had expected! He barely managed to channel all of his Mental Power to the shield before a paw clashed against it.

Boom! He was blown back by the impact, but he had anticipated it and braced for impact.

He hit the wall hard, and his heart almost stopped from the impact.

Fury Points 333

The Night Cat was furious to think that it wasn’t able to kill the humans in one hit.

Consuming ten thousand Fury Points

Triple Slash (Peak Mastery)

Xiang Ning immediately consumed all of his Fury Points and increased his mastery of the Triple Slash.

He needed the maneuverability to guard his squad.

Because Lu Shiyu was behind everyone else, he knew that she needed more time to aim and fire her rifle.

He wasn’t afraid of attracting the other beasts anymore.

With Peak Mastery in the Triple Slash, he immediately appeared in front of the Night Cat and crashed into it with his scornful shield, forcing it a few steps back.

“Mountain-Splitting Slash!” An enormous strength burst out as his sword was seemingly transformed into a giant axe that was capable of splitting mountains and dividing rivers.

The Night Cat was taken by surprise and tried to block it.

A guttural scream was heard as its paw was sliced off.

At the same time, two knives flew toward its eyes and throat.

But a tier two cat was no pushover and it immediately leaped back the moment it sensed danger.

The knives fell short, but Xiang Ning didn’t chase it.

He knew that Lu Shiyu had had more than enough time.

While all of that action had happened in only two seconds, Lu Shiyu only needed that much time to pull the trigger at point-blank range.

Xiang Ning heard a ringing in his right ear as a bullet whizzed past him and blew the Night Cat’s skull apart.

The bullet continued on and killed another ferocious beast a floor below them.

Killing two birds with one bullet, that’s how Lu Shiyu did things.

“Xiang Ning, are you alright” Fang Rou examined him and grimaced at his bloody back.

He didn’t reply to her, but instead shouted, “Quick! Leave this floor behind!”

Everyone finally came to their senses.

The fight hadn’t been loud, but the howl of the Night Cat must have alerted the other beasts in the building.

Just thirty seconds after they left, another Night Cat arrived at where they had fought.

It sniffed the air and wanted to chase them, but stopped when it saw the carcass of the other Night Cat, then pounced on it and started eating it.

Within five minutes, more beasts arrived and fought over the carcass.

Xiang Ning and his squad would be relieved to see such a scene, but they didn’t even stop to consider it and ran straight to the eighteenth floor.

They barricaded the door and listened for more beasts.

They knew more of them were gathering in the building, but almost all of them were concentrated on the twelfth floor, fighting over the carcass.

The squad only felt safe after they had barricaded the exit and prepared some basic defenses.
