Jiang Mo Chen stayed true to his word.

On the third day, he came as planned to pick up Yan Qing Chi to see Qiqi.

He parked the car, and watched as Yan Qing Chi opened the trunk, stuffed a big bag in, then closed it in one fluid movement.

Then he opened the passenger door and slid in.

“Whats that”

“Gifts for Qiqi,” Yan Qing Chi answered nonchalantly.

“So many”

“What kid would turn away gifts” Yan Qing Chi fastened his seat belt.

“Did you think you had a lot of toys when you were young”

Jiang Mo Chen made a noncommittal sound, glanced at him, and stopped talking.

The night that he met with Yan Qing Chi, he told Qiqi that he was going to get married.

And he also mentioned that Yan Qing Chi would come to see him, reminding him again this morning before he headed out.

Each time, Qiqi nodded obediently and made a sound of acknowledgement.

As Jiang Mo Chen thought of this, he reminded the other man, “Qiqi takes time to warm up to others.

After you meet him, talk to him and play with him.

If he doesnt want to play or talk, you dont need to be overzealous.

There is still time in the future.

“Alright,” Yan Qing Chi replied, as he heard a notification go off from his phone.

He fished his phone out from his pocket and saw his agents WeChat message saying that he had chosen two scripts for him to look over.

Yan Qing Chi returned an 【OK】 and put his phone away.

The car stopped in an upscale villa area that he hadnt heard of before, but didnt seem cheap to the naked eye.

Yan Qing Chi followed Jiang Mo Chen out of the car, grabbed the gifts for Qiqi, and stepped into the elevator.

To make the meeting between Yan Qing Chi and Qiqi less awkward, Jiang Mo Chen deliberately chose for them to meet around lunch time.

His thought process was that they could chat during the meal.

If Qiqi obviously did not like Yan Qing Chi, he could save the scene as needed.

After opening the door and changing his shoes, Yan Qing Chi smelled a fragrant scent.

Auntie Zhang saw that Jiang Mo Chen had returned, and greeted cheerfully, “Young master has returned.” When her eyes fell upon Yan Qing Chi behind Jiang Mo Chen, she was surprised.

However, she quickly recovered and greeted him with a welcoming smile, “Young Master Yan.”

Yan Qing Chi nodded at her, “Hello.”

“Wheres Qiqi” Jiang Mo Chen asked.

“Hes in his room.” Auntie Zhang said, “Young Master, you go check on Qiqi first.

Ive still got a fish here that hasnt been prepared yet.

The food will be ready after a while.”

“Alright.”

Jiang Mo Chen turned back towards Yan Qing Chi, “Come then, lets take you to see Qiqi.”

As they climbed the stairs, Yan Qing Chi asked, “Who was that”

“That was Auntie Zhang.

Shes taken care of me since I was a child.

Later on when I moved out, because I didnt know how to cook, Auntie Zhang came to help cook for me and organize the house.

After adopting Qiqi, I was worried that Qiqi would be bored by himself since Im not around, or that I wouldnt even know if anything happened, so I let Auntie Zhang live here and help me take care of Qiqi.”

Yan Qing Chi nodded and replied with an indifferent “Oh”.

The two soon reached the top of the stairs and came outside Qiqis room.

Jiang Mo Chen knocked on the door first, then pushed it open.

Thus Qing Chi saw the child from the picture sitting in front of a desk in a spacious room.

He twisted his head, his eyes clear and bright as he studied them.

Jiang Mo Chen walked into the room, glanced at the drawing on the table in front of him, and asked, “Are you drawing”

Qiqi nodded, “Mn.”

“Not bad,” Jiang Mo Chen praised.

Qiqi smiled and said, “Thank you.”

His voice carried the softness inherent in children; it was extremely pleasant to the ears, like glutinous rice dumplings.

Yan Qing Chi felt that the kid was a bit cute, and even wanted to rub his head.

“This is Uncle Yan, I told you before.” Jiang Mo Chen introduced.

Qiqi turned to look at him, and greeted docilely, “Hello Uncle Yan.”

Yan Qing Chi responded with a smile, “Hello Qiqi.”

Qiqi smiled again and stayed silent.

“Lets go down and eat.” Jiang Mo Chen suggested as he pulled Qiqi up, “Cmon.”

Qiqi nodded and obediently followed him downstairs.

Auntie Zhang knew that Yan Qing Chi was coming, so she made a very hearty meal.

She never ate together with Jiang Mo Chen.

After serving the dishes, she took her own meal to her room.

In the bright dining room, Yan Qing Chi glanced between Jiang Mo Chen who was a man of few words, and the quiet Qiqi who was eating.

He wondered if he should find some topics, but he was not a person who was excessively lively nor particularly extroverted.

Therefore, after starting two topics that were swiftly killed by Jiang Mo Chen, he had no choice but to eat in silence and fetch some food for Qiqi while he was at it.

The three soon finished their meal.

Jiang Mo Chen still had other matters to attend to.  He notified Yan Qing Chi and Qiqi, then headed to his study.

Qiqi watched him leave and then returned to his room.

Yan Qing Chi was left alone sitting in the empty dining room.

He folded his arms together as he thought about the situation before him.

Then he stood up and began collecting the dishes.

Yet, not long after he started cleaning up, Auntie Zhang appeared.

She took away the bowls in his hands as she asked, “Young Master Yan, what are you doing with this”

Yan Qing Chi had also been the Little Young Master in his own household before his transmigration.

Seeing this, he didnt persist and went along with her intention.

He left and washed his hands in the bathroom.

Then he went up the stairs, knocked on the door, and pushed open the door to Qiqis room.

This time, Qiqi was not sitting in a chair; he sat on the carpet, watching Yan Qing Chi warily with a pair of cat eyes.

Yan Qing Chi first released his goodwill and asked, “Can I come in”

Qiqi did not speak, only continuing to stare at him.

Thus Yan Qing Chi thickened his skin1, walked in, and closed the door smoothly.

Qiqi frowned slightly, but did not kick him out.

He continued to look at him and did not speak.

Yan Qing Chi came before him step by step under his gaze.

He looked down, “Oh, so youre playing Chinese Checkers2.”

Qiqi also lowered his head towards his checkerboard, quietly silent.

Yan Qing Chi felt that the kid was a little too quiet.

Not only was he quiet, but he also dropped the docile obedience he displayed in front of Jiang Mo Chen.

He took a seat3 on the carpet and didnt say anything else; he only studied the checkerboard in front of him.

Qiqi glanced at him.

When he saw that the man was focused on the checkerboard, he returned his gaze to the board.

He had learned to play checkers a while ago, and he was still at the exploration stage.

He had only made a few simple moves on the board.

He thought Yan Qing Chi would try to talk to him, but the latter didnt say anything.

When he saw Yan Qing Chi was quiet, he didnt speak anymore.  He looked at the chess pieces and continued to make his moves.

Yan Qing Chi watched his moves and felt that the child in front of him was quite clever.

As a strategy game, Chinese Checkers still required some critical thinking.

He rarely saw children willing to play a game of checkers alone and abide to the rules as they made their every move.

Qiqi had just started playing.

After jumping the last two rows, he didnt know how to continue.

He drummed his cheeks as he studied the checkerboard, a little troubled.

In the end, he had to return all the checker pieces to their original positions.

He was just repositioning the pieces when a pair of hands suddenly appeared in front of him, straightening the pieces on the opposite side which he had scattered into a triangle formation4.

It was at this moment that Qiqi remembered that there was another person in his room.

But since he (YQC) didnt speak nor did he move, and Qiqi himself was focused on playing chess, he (QQ) had forgotten about him.

He looked up at Yan Qing Chi, somewhat baffled by the latters actions.

He didnt understand what he (YQC) wanted.
